Researchers at an IndianaUniversity saw that the "self challenge" aspect of wearing a pedometer is the main reason.  We are competitive by nature.  And most people in the study wanted their numbers to go up each day... not down.  Just by wearing a pedometer and nothing else, the average weight loss for each in the study was 3 lbs in 12 weeks.  And don't worry if you dont want to buy one... you can download free pedometer apps to your phone.
