Coffee Good For Your Muscles

Verywell Health says a recent study suggests that drinking coffee may prevent muscle loss as you age. Researchers found a link between higher coffee intake and greater muscle mass in adults with a BMI (body mass index) under 30. Experts recommend combining coffee consumption with a healthy diet and exercise for optimal muscle health.

Sports nutritionist Heidi Skolnik says, “The results showed approximately a 10 to 15% higher appendicular muscle mass in individuals who had higher consumption of coffee, caffeinated coffee, and caffeine. According to this new study, coffee intake is positively associated with skeletal muscle mass in individuals with a BMI less than 30.”
