Mike Fisher To Retire From NHL

posted by Victoria Michelle -

Mike Fisher (AKA Mr. Carrie Underwood) has officially announced his retirement from the NHL after a 17 year-long run. He ended his final season as captain of the Nashville Predators, leading the team to the Stanley Cup Finals.

While it's a sad day for Preds fans, another door always opens when one closes. Carrie Underwood shared on Instagram this morning how much she's looking forward to having Mike at home more often, to spend time with her and their son Isaiah. That, and the fact that now she'll have hubby by her side while they cheer on #Smashville together!

Captain @mfisher1212 I sure am going to miss watching you play and cheering you on with the rest of Smashville, but I so look forward to seeing what God has in store for you in this next chapter of your life. You've given your teammates and the game your all for so many years...you've worked so hard and made us all so proud! Isaiah and I love you so much and are so excited to be able to have you home a lot more...We can't wait to cheer on the @predsnhl WITH you in the stands! #ThankYouSmashville #PredsFansForLife
