Fans are mourning the loss of Roy Clark. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member and co-host of the famed Hee Haw television series died yesterday at the age of 85 due to complications from pneumonia at his home in Tulsa, Okla.
Clark was one of the world’s finest multi-instrumentalists, mastering the banjo, guitar and mandolin, and was one of the first cross-over artists to land singles on both the pop and country charts. He charted 23 Top 40 Country hits, including "Yesterday, When I Was Young," and won a Grammy in 1982 (Best Country Instrumental Performance) for "Alabama Jubilee."
Clark was also the pioneer who turned Branson, MO into the live music capitol of the world. The Ozark town today boasts more seats than Broadway.
A memorial celebration for Clark will be held in the coming days in Tulsa, OK, but details are still pending.
