The Kentucky Derby Was Full of Controversy

Owner Gary West said Sunday that he's considering whether to appeal the disqualification of his horse, Maximum Security, after it crossed the finish line first in the Kentucky Derby a day earlier. Runner-up Country House was declared the winner after the historic decision, the first time the storied race's winner has been disqualified for interference. West said the earliest he could see the video evidence used by the racing stewards to disqualify his horse would be Thursday, and that evidence could determine if he files an appeal. The stewards ruled that Maximum Security interfered with the path of Country House and two other horses exiting the final turn.
