Jason Aldean shared a heartbreaking message to the state he considers his second home as Hurricane Ian causes devastation in Florida.

“Florida is our second home and we have lots of friends and family down there,” Aldean captioned a photo of the wreckage from the hurricane. “We hate seeing the devastation done by this storm and we are thinking about everybody who is dealing with the fallout of Hurricane Ian. Stay strong Florida!”

Hurricane Ian, which began as a tropical storm, made landfall in Florida as a dangerous Category 4 storm on Wednesday (September 28). The powerful storm brought strong gusts of 150mph winds and storm surges as it arrived. By Wednesday morning, Hurricane Ian was just shy of a Category 5, a difference of only 2 mph.

Officials downgraded Ian to a tropical storm again on Thursday morning (September 29), as the storm continued to move through Florida and cause devastating wreckage throughout the state. Some footage even captured, for example, Hurricane Ian tearing the roof off of a building. Gov. Ron DeSantis said during a Thursday morning press briefing, in part: “You’re looking at a storm that has changed the character of a significant part of our state. Help is on the way.”
