Snow Hill Explains Sulfur Smell In The Water

Snow Hill says the sulfur smell in the town's water is connected to the effort to put out a major fire at the Tyson feed mill. Officials say fighting the fire required a lot of water and the increased usage stirred up iron deposits in the wells. The iron deposits are responsible for the smell and while it's not pleasant - it's not harmful and the water supply has not been below state requirements. The town is flushing hydrants and residents should flush their hot water heater.
