A new survey by People Matters reveals that 40% of workers admit to sabotaging a colleague to advance their career. Other findings:
- Gen Z’ers and millennials are twice as likely as Gen X’ers and Baby Boomers to engage in workplace sabotage
- Career advancement and self-preservation are the main motivations behind workplace sabotage
-61% of people say they have been thrown under the bus at work
-33% of people have witnessed workplace backstabbing
-73% of people say they have never thrown a colleague under the bus, but have experienced it themselves
-26% of people have blamed colleagues for their own mistakes
-21% of workers have shared negative information about colleagues with their managers
-6% of workers have deliberately set up someone to fail
-25% of people say their manager has deliberately set them up to fail
