A new survey by the payments platform Oobit reveals that 45% of people have left a larger tip than they originally intended because it felt awkward to skip or change a preset amount. Other findings:
-77% of people believe tipping culture has gotten out of control
- 37% of people have stopped visiting a business because its tipping request felt too aggressive
- 42% of people tip because an employee or another customer is watching them
-the average person spends $674 a year on tips.
