TMSG: Stuck in Quicksand During a Winter Storm

On Saturday, two hikers found themselves trapped in quicksand during a winter storm. Ryan Osmun and Jessika McNeill were about 3 hours into “the Subway” trail route in Utah’s Zion National Park when McNeill slipped and fell into quicksand. Osmun, in an attempt to get her out, also found himself trapped.

Osmun told CBS News, “There was no chance of moving it at all, the sand had surrounded the whole leg, and I couldn’t move it."

McNeill eventually made her way out of the quicksand and decided to go find help in the middle of a winter storm. After hiking alone for hours, rangers were finally able to locate McNeill. Once the winter storm cleared, a helicopter search and rescue crew found Osmun and airlifted him to the hospital where he is recovering!
