No Ketchup For Your Fries; Record Heat Threatens Heinz Ketchup

The South China Morning Post says a ketchup shortage may occur because California's record heat is wreaking havoc on Heinz's tomato supply. The extreme temperatures in the state, where all the tomatoes for Heinz ketchup in the U.S. are grown, have impacted the harvest. Researchers will assess the damage in October, with expectations of lower tomato yields. Heinz is developing heat-resistant tomatoes to combat the effects of climate change. The good news there is no report of a vinegar shortage at Thrasher's.
