A new study by Rush University Medical Center reveals that playing regular social games like Bingo can extend healthy brain function by an additional five years. Other findings:
- seniors with active social lives develop dementia approximately five years later than their peers (age 92 versus 87)
- activities like dining out, taking day trips, and attending religious services are associated with a 38% lower risk of developing dementia
- a five-year delay of dementia could save around $500,000 in health care costs
