A new survey by US News reveals that 72% of parents say they are going to have some trouble paying for back to school supplies this year. That's down 7% from last year. Other findings:
- 54% of parents plan to spend between $100 and $300 on back to school shopping items for their children. That's up 13% from last year.
- 46% of parents plan to spend between $50 and $150 on back to school clothing and shoes
- 48% of parents are reducing their back-to-school spending because of the poor economy
- 22% of parents expect their children to help cover back to school costs with an allowance or Summer job
