After 23 Years, David Lee Murphy Has Another #1 Song!

It's been 23 years between Number One hits, but David Lee Murphy is back on top of the charts this week with “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” a duet with his good friend Kenny Chesney, who also co-produced the song. David Lee said, “When Kenny asked me about making a record, I thought that sounded like a whole lot of fun. I love to make music, just as much as I love writing songs. So, we went in without expectations, and I wouldn’t have imagined this. But it sure feels good.”

Kenny said, “David Lee is the kind of artist who’s timeless. He writes real country songs for right now, and he understands people. I wanted that voice out there, and I’m so glad country radio agreed! I’ve joked, ‘I’m just glad David Lee let me sing on this one,’ but it’s kind of true. I remember when he was having hits, thinking just how good he was – and it’s great to be part of something he’s part of, let alone his first No. 1 record since ‘Dust on the Bottle.’”

David Lee says the success of “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright" has allowed him to connect with audiences again. "It’s just so special for me, because it’s been a couple of years since I had a song that’s been on the radio and to have one where I go out now and everybody sings along with me. I mean I hear it on the radio, and I heard it playing through a truck stop speakers up there the other day, you know, it just feels great, and I can’t tell you how thankful I am.”

In addition to playing his own fair and festival dates, David Lee has been joining Kenny on some of his stadium shows on the Trip Around The Sun tour.
