A Country Legend Was Instrumental in Getting Brooks & Dunn Back Together

Brooks & Dunn's Kix Brooks revealed a little-known fact during the duo's induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday night -- the late Merle Haggard played a huge role in getting Kix and Ronnie Dunn back together five years after their split.

Kix said he was interviewing Merle for his radio show when the legend offered some unsolicited advice."He said, 'You don't understand. Son, you boys have got a thing. You can't put your finger on it.' He said, 'It's one thing when an artist has a thing and people know it, but for groups and for duos that's a rare thing. You cannot waste that. You need to call up Ronnie Dunn. Y'all need to figure this out.' But I sent Ronnie that clip, and Ronnie and I have such a strong relationship talking back and forth to each other . . . well, he posted it on his Facebook page. That's how I knew this was a very meaningful moment for us"

Shortly thereafter, Kix and Ronnie reteamed for a string of dates in Las Vegas with their good friend Reba McEntire in 2015, which continues to the present. In fact, they'll be back at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace beginning on December 4th.
