Without thinking about it, quickly draw a circle. Did you draw it clockwise or counterclockwise?
A new study analyzed 119,000 drawings of circles from around the world and found that 86% of Americans draw the circles COUNTERCLOCKWISE. And so do pretty much all of the other English speaking countries.
There are only two countries where the majority of people draw circles clockwise: Taiwan and Japan. The researchers think it could be because people write Chinese and Japanese characters right-to-left.
