The wife of the front runner in France's presidential election on Sunday, Emmanuel Macron, is 25 years older than him and his former high school teacher. Brigitte Trogneux has been credited with inspiring the 39-year-old Macron to run for the presidency, with campaign adviser Marc Ferracci telling The Independent, "Emmanuel Macron wouldn't have been able to embark on this adventure without her. Her presence is essential for him." The couple met when Macron was 15 and Trogneux was his 40-year-old literature teacher who was married and had three children. She also ran the theater club, which Macron belonged to. Their relationship developed, although the now 64-year-old Trogneux has said: "Nobody will ever know at what moment our story became a love story. That belongs to us. That is our secret." Macron told his parents how he felt and they weren't happy about it, asking them to wait until he was 18 and sending him away to finish school in Paris. Before leaving, he told Trogneux, "You won't get rid of me. Whatever you do, I will marry you." The relationship became official when he turned 18, and by then Trogneux had left her husband and moved to Paris, and they've been together since. (Forbes)
