Man Allegedly Tries to Smuggle Birds on a Plane in Curlers!

It's truly remarkable what some people think they will be able to get away with. A man was arrested in New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday (June 16th) after he returned from Guyana, and US Customs and Border Protection officials discovered 34 live finches in his luggage, concealed in plastic hair curlers. Fancis Guahoo allegedly planned to sell the animals to be used in lucrative bird-singing competitions in New York City. He expected to bring in about $3,000 per bird-- so about $102,000 total. He was arraigned Monday (June 17th) on a charge of unlawful wildlife smuggling.
